Business Day & Deadline Calculators

Workday counts are easy to misread when weekends, local holidays, custom closures, handling days, or PTO windows change the calendar. This page keeps the core date tools together so a deadline can move from count to next date to delivery window.

Method, example, and limits

Business-day counting with a stated calendar

Repeatable method

  1. 1.Confirm the start date, end date or offset, and whether the start day counts.
  2. 2.Apply the weekend pattern, then exclude only confirmed holidays and custom closures.
  3. 3.Write the resulting date beside the calendar source and cutoff assumption.

Worked example

Find the next U.S. federal business day after the observed Independence Day closure on Friday July 3, 2026.

  1. July 4 is Saturday.
  2. July 5 is Sunday.
  3. July 6 is the next Monday and is not in the stated federal closure list.

Result: Monday July 6, 2026 under the stated U.S. federal Monday–Friday calendar

Limits to keep visible

  • Federal, bank, state, court, employer, carrier, and market calendars can differ.
  • A submission cutoff can move the effective start date even when the calendar is correct.
  • International deadlines need the calendar and time zone for every party that controls the handoff.

Deadline count

Use when the main question is how many working days are available before a due date.

Date addition

Use when the task starts with a date plus a required number of working days.

Closure review

Add custom closures when a company holiday, regional holiday, or shipping blackout changes the result.

Common mistakes to check before copying dates

Tool choice

Which business-day calculator should I open first?

Open the Business Days Calculator when you need a count or date math result. Use Next Business Day when you only need the next working date.

Calendar check

Do weekends always count as non-working days?

These tools default to Saturday and Sunday as non-working days. Add custom closures when your schedule uses extra holiday or blackout dates.

Why link shipping and vacation tools from this page?

Shipping dates and PTO windows often depend on the same working-day rules, so they belong next to the main business-day calculator.
