Write the rule before counting
Holiday-aware counting starts with a written rule: which weekdays count, which holidays are observed, and whether the start date counts.
- Pick the workweek pattern before adding dates.
- List holidays and observed replacement days before calculating the offset.
- Decide whether the deadline starts on the request date or the next eligible workday.
Separate holidays from custom closures
A holiday preset can cover common dates, but local closures, carrier blackout dates, and office shutdowns should be entered as separate exceptions.
- Add custom closures only when they would otherwise be working days.
- Do not subtract a holiday twice when it already falls on a weekend.
